We Went Car Shopping

And I have lived to tell the story. Breanna is trying to buy herself a car and Dana and I decided it might be easier for use to do some of the leg work, since we both had the day off and she had class all day and had to work immediately after class. I HATE car shopping, but Dana loves it so we pressed on.

We began to look. At the first place we looked we found out that the banks are no longer loaning on cars unless you plan to finance more than $7,000. (and since our economy is melting down I am not surprised) Breanna has $2k to pay down and a $9,000+ car is not in her budget so we had to change our course of action just a little.

Her requirement at this time is just one thing.. she wants a blue car. SO we head out looking for a blue car that is under $9,000 at a car lot where she can maybe get financing. She has no credit, and as is customary in the good old USA no credit=bad credit.

Dana was a really good sport, he would go look at all of these cars and deal with the slimy, snake-like used car salesmen and I would sit in the car, under the AC. He even had one slimy, heavy pressured snake-like used car salesman call him... TWICE to try to get him to come back and look at some more of their cars. They were overpriced and we wouldnt buy from them anyway.

We think we may have found something that she might like. It is a 2002 Kia Rio, 4 door metallic blue REALLY cute little car. Dana test drove it, and tomorrow if it is still there, Breanna will go and look at it. If it isnt there, there are 3 more blue cars in the same price range that she can look at. This dealer does in-house financing so maybe that will work out.

I dont feel like the blood has been sucked from my veins like I usually do after car shopping, so all in all I think the day was a success!! Wish us luck tomorrow!

I am right there with you on the car shopping deal-My oldest just bought her car a fews weeks ago. she did it all-but had to have grandpa co-sign for her. She got a 2005 Neon for 10 thousand. Proud that she handled it all but still worry she made the right decision while still in college.
Her insurance is unbelievable!

Yes our economy does stink-not sure anything will change soon.
We are just trying to keep what we got!
have a good evening

I hate car shopping, I hate the vultures and blood suckers. They just want to *run* the numbers, yea right and our credit too...bleh.

When we bought our Fit we went through our credit union. They did all the leg work and got us exactly what we wanted for what we were willing to pay. No bargaining involved. They even delivered the car right to the credit union. It was the best car buying experience I have ever had.
They also deal in used cars...

I'd rather have surgery than shop for a car. I let Roger do the wheeling and dealing this time and I just sat there and signed at the appropriate times. Hope Bre gets her blue car soon!

Shopping and test driving is not so bad...it's the flipping car salesman! Oh my gosh! Are Car Salesmen aliens, is there a lab somewhere and this is a sick joke of cloning? And why oh why...when you make the choice of the car, you can have great credit...but somehow, someway...you are forced to S-I-T???
Oh my...it is time to return to my blog.....

Oh to be young and have "blue color" be the only requirement for a car. Now I think of safety options and mileage and all sorts of things I never in a million years believed I would care about.

Ugh. I have to get a new car in November, and I am dreading it. Good luck today!

Good luck. I hope she finds a great car she likes. Kia's are good cars. I have one.

I hate car shopping almost worse than anything else in the world. Except death maybe. I would love to be a car dealer and treat people right, but then I wouldn't have a job for very long would I??
