Today I started wondering when it became necessary for all of humanity to talk on their cell phones CONSTANTLY! Breanna and I were running some errands and it seems like every single person who made a stupid move behind the wheel or who parked crooked or who held up traffic was TALKING ON THEIR CELL PHONES!!!!
Who are they talking too? Is it necessary that they have that conversation at exactly that moment? It cant wait? I love my cell phone (as my readers well know) but I can get up, get dressed, go shopping and come home again and never talk on my phone. Maybe I am not very popular. OR maybe those people who I talk to dont talk on the phone any more than I do, whatever the reason, I dont find it necessary to walk out of the store while talking, unload my grocery cart while talking, put the cart away and walk back to the car, get in, back out, drive away ALL while constantly talking on the cell phone.
In the ER we are confronted by these "must talk on cell phoners". They come in our door and we greet them to see what they need and they look right at us, and say "I am on the phone!". oookkaaayyyyyy.... that gives the old ER nurse just the incentive she needs to turn around and walk back to the nurses station (which is located behind the locked door) and never to go back to talk to that person again. It happens. It just happened 2 days ago as a matter of fact!
So, America, at least those "must talk on cell phoners"... PLEASE be more considerate of others when you are chatting. We are out here, really. Those of us who actually can eat, drive, work, and even watch TV WITHOUT talking on the cell phone. Give it a try!!

i go days with out talking on the phone... unless some boy is calling martha... we removed the house phone and only have cells but I so agree with you!
sheesh folks give it a rest already! I wish they would ban driving and talking ... on fort gordon if you are caugth talking on a cell while driving it is a $285.00 immediate fine... and you can be banned from driving on base.
Back in the old days before I retired (two years ago!) I was the assistant registrar at a small college. One young gentleman was sitting at my desk, registering for his classes with me, when his cell rang. He answered it and proceeded to carry on a lengthy conversation with someone very important apparently. Finally, the kids waiting in line to register gave him so much grief that he hung up and finished his registration.
Not too long after that, a friend gave me a small pottery urn with these words painted on the front: Ashes of problem Students. This young man happened by my office one day, saw the urn and laughed and asked whose ashes they were. I told him "your's Alex, your's!" he didn't think it was funny then!
Today at Wal-Mart, people were stopped in the aisles talking on their cell phones. Oblivious. Just oblivious to anbody else. I love my cell phone, too--it is my only phone--but I guess I am also an unpopular person because I can go many places without treating others to my conversations.
Again, I'm getting closer and closer to saran-wrapping my house shut with me in it...
Ok, I have to say I talk on the phone in the stores sometimes too. I call to see if my parents need this or that while I am out. Or my kids call, and I hardly ever turn down a chance to talk to them. but I do whisper, and I tell them I am in a store and will call soon as I get out. But what I hate more than anything....be out eating, trying to have a conversation and someone else on their phone talking so loudly that I hear every thing being said etc. I HATE THAT. But I also HATE when my daughter is with me and she gets on the phone to text Heaven only knows who. I tell her it is very disrespectful to me. I HATE IT. I challenge her to keep her phone in her purse till we are done eating. She just laughs at me, but usually will do it. How did we ever live with out these stupid things!!!!?????
I am in 100% agreement! And you KNOW that all of those conversations have to be really high quality, ROFL!
Yesterday, we watched some stupid guy empty his trash at the solid waste disposal center, all while talking on his cell phone. We were hoping that he would drop into the crusher!
I was at the movies last weekend to see 4 Christmases. Right in the middle of the movie a cell phone rings. It is the lady sitting a couple of seats from me. She answers it and proceeds to have a conversation (in Spanish) with what must have been her daughter. She then hand the phone to the little boy with her (must be grandson) who then talks to his mamma. They finally left. That is really totally RUDE.
I agree!! However, I have found myself on the phone while out and about. But, it's people calling me, and I tell them I am busy, hang up, done deal. I love your Christmas music on your blog, I think I am going to play it for awhile today....I am going to try and get some baking done today, as we are in for a huge blizzard. Hopefully, I can get some much needed odds and ends done.
Make it a great weekend!!

I am SO with you on this. I can always tell a NUT is driving and talking when they are either too slow or too fast, weaving and no signals. It never fails. I pass them and oh yes, on the darn phone! I only use it when I HAVE too. I'm not coordinated enough to drive and talk at the same time because I need to focus on the LOONS! Good post.
I hate people who talk on their phone when they should be interacting with people. Like when in line at the store and they are talking on the phone completely ignoring the clerk who is ringing up their purchases. This pisses me off to no end. I find it rude and inconsiderate. Not to mention I don't want to hear their conversation.
