My mountain is weight loss, I have been on a diet nearly half of my life (if not more). I almost won the battle in 2004-2005, when I joined Weight Watchers for the 100th time, but this time it clicked. I lost 85lbs. I was down to 30lbs from my goal weight at the time and just got tired of dieting.
Guess what happened? I gained 30lbs back. So here I go again, back to good old Weight Watchers, back to the meetings, counting the points and trying to stay in the mindset that I am what I eat. So far, 4lbs down. This is my 3rd week.
Donned in my hiking boots, and armed with climbing rope, and climbing essentials, here I go again.. Wish me luck.

The minute it starts to get chilly, I eat more. Like a bear getting ready for the winter. Yes, my mountain is also the same. It used to be panic attacks. Now Paxil has taken them away, but I also don't run on nervous energy any more...hence weight gain. Oh my. Good luck, my friend. You can do this!!
Good luck;) I actually skipped my weigh in this week because I couldn't bear to be told how much I gained. I am watching my weight. Go up.
tonjia...great thought-provoking post. Thanks for the cartoon link...clever!
My mountain is definitely my "VirgoMind". Over thinking everything-not good!
Stay strong, climb your mountain with conviction and you will reach the top!

Well I would deffinately have to say quitting smoking.I am on day 5 with no smoking but with the help from patches.I am very proud of myself for doing so good so far.I just need to make sure I don't get over confident.
Good luck wih your mountain.I know you will succeed!
i have many mountains... Love the cartoon however... and MUST get my butt in gear and loose weight too... sigh I hate dieting it SUCKS.
YOU GO GIRL!! We can be miserable dieters together!!
Hallie :)
Good luck! I need some of your weight loss motivation.
I have never dealt with weight issues till this past 7-8 years. When I hit 40. Now with age and this stupid computer I put it on and really don't have the desire to work at taking it off. I have gained so much since I have hit this age and I just can't beieve it. How did it happen? and happen so fast? I never saw it coming, never saw it happening to the hips, and waist line. Then poof, one day I couldn't wear those jeans, just got a bigger size and then next thing I know I am three sizes bigger and still just sit here shaking my head not believing it. Thought when I moved here I would be walking every day with my cousin, that didn't happen, I have no one else, but now that I am getting into my photography maybe I can find some other motivation..
we will see. Mountains, don't make a mountian out of a mole hill, well, this one is not a mole hill.
Much luck to you...and I know you can do this. We can do this.
i don't get it... is it thart god puts a bigger goal , a fake goal in fron't of us when the mountain top is just there, so is he tempting us????or making it possible to meet expectations by making our's seem impossible and then just giving it to us?????
Awww, man, Tonjia...I'm with ya, girl! But I haven't gotten to where you're at yet, with wanting to give it YET ANOTHER go. And, funny thing, the more I am "encouraged" (yeah, right!) by those "well-intentioned" (again--yeah, right!) few, the less motivated I am to diet again. I had to chuckle at Airmanmom's "Virgo mind" because I have that, too! Plus, lots of stubbornness, so I have to do it only when I want to--and I haven't wanted to even though I know I should. Heavy Le Sigh. BWAHAHAHA.
You can do it, Tonjia; if it is something you want to do, you will. Just know that whether you do or don't makes no difference to me; I will love ya just the same regardless!
